Bringing a ray of summer sunshine to the early Glasgow spring, we’re looking forward to hosting an authentic evening on Tuesday, 3 April with Lesley Inglis from Alliance Wines at only £25 per head.

Argentinean wines such as Paul Hobb’s Los Cobos Malbec, a palatable wine from the Marchiori Vineyard, and Zuccardi Torrontes, a tropical, golden yellow coloured wine from Salta will feature in the evening.

Travelling further towards the west coast of South America, wines such as the tangy Nostros Sauvignon will be served, as well as Carmenere, Chile’s signature rich red wine.

To complement these fine wines we’ll have a selection of seafoods, meats and desserts that we promise will make for a wonderfully cultured evening. Hope to see you there!

To mark the first of our events in our basement space (name to be revealed soon) The Greater Shawlands Republic is coming to the bungo on Sunday, 1 April with an evening of comedy, music and satire.

Acts include the award winning comedian and generalissimo of the Greater Shawlands Republic Bruce Morton, the Southside scribe and satirist Phil Differ, glorious music from tales of jake and comedian and true believer Andrew Learmonth.

Be prepared to laugh a lot! Doors open at 8pm and the night’s entertainments will start at 8.30pm in our basement space.

Here at the bungo we are setting the perfect mood for you to show that special someone how much you love them. An idyllic menu can create the ultimate romantic occasion, so there is no question that your evening will, at least, begin well!

Scrumptious white fish and prawn ceviche is well matched with our chervil cream cheese and cucumber to start, or opt for our sticky pork, cashew and paw paw salad with a nam pla dressing.

To set the conversion flowing try our tender chicken stuffed with Italian Fontina and sun blushed tomatoes or, to spice up the mood, we recommend our tamarind glazed black cod with habanero orange salsa and sweet potato chips.

And if desserts are running through your mind, then try our attractive and colourful passion fruit tart with soft vanilla mascarpone. If this doesn’t sway you, our warm pineapple carpaccio dotted with pomegranate and pistachios, served with maple greek yoghurt will!

Finally, dinner isn’t dinner without accompanying drinks and we have the most perfect romantic creations to finish – or start – the evening. Have Ashton create you some of our creamy and dreamy Valentines cocktails to devour with that special someone:
